DISASTER IN LAGOS YESTERDAY @ LAGOS OTEDOLA BRIDGE

   A fully-loaded 33,000-litre fuel tanker exploded on Otedola Bridge along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, killing many people and razing about 67 vehicles it was really a black Thursday.

the picture showed vehicles ablaze and thick black smoke billowing across a wide stretch of road. 
  Eye witness said the accident was caused by brake failure while the driver was trying to control the fuel loaded tanker it reversed and ran into a vehicle and exploded and damage five buses, two trucks, a tricycle and 45 cars were burnt out.Those present at the scene included the police, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Lagos State Fire Service, Ambulance Service,Lagos State Traffic Management Authority.

 “As a government, we would not relent in putting measures in place to ensure safety of lives and property of all residents,” said Lagos state government spokesman Kehinde Bamigbetan in an emailed statement.
“We extend our deepest commiseration to the families of persons who lost their lives as well as properties to the incident.” The statement added that the state government was clearing damaged vehicles from the road.
