Trump’s 2020 team is working with Cambridge Analytica employees

The consulting firm may have shut down, but its staffers aren’t done influencing American politics.
Some background: Cambridge Analytica closed its doors last month after a massive scandal involving how it acquired data on Facebook users. It was banned from the social network in March.
A company by any other name: At least four ex-employees of the company are now associated with the recently incorporated Data Propria, an organization reportedly working on president Donald Trump’s reelection bid. Brad Parscale, Trump’s campaign manager, is a part owner of Data Propria’s parent company, Cloud Commerce, which could create a conflict of interest, but everyone involved denies the connection.
Why it matters: Data Propria has the same goals as Cambridge Analytica—gathering information on and targeting voters and consumers. Cambridge Analytica may be gone, but the people involved in the scandal are still hanging around in influential circles.
